PRESENTER: BERNICE YOST of  YOST INVESTIGATIONS -Specializing in Financial Investigations.

Financial scams are rampant these days and every time we think we have a handle on how to avoid them, the scammers come up with a new angle. We have an expert who will share her experience and expertise on what to look for and how to avoid becoming a victim.

Bernice Yost is a retired U. S. Treasury Agent who worked for the IRS Criminal Investigations Division for 22 years. She then worked as a special Agent in the Los Angeles District for 6 years; as a Regional Analyst in the San Francisco Regional Office for 2 years and as a Group Manager in Phoenix for 11 ½ years.

If this isn’t enough to convince you she knows her stuff she is an enrolled agent and licensed private investigator in several states.

Bernice is the first black female Special Agent to be selected nationwide; the first black female to be selected as a Group Manager in the IRS, Customs, Secret Service, ATF, or the FBI; and the first black female special agent to retire from IRS.

Ms. Yost joined the IRS family in the Los Angeles District in January 1972.  After proving her abilities through hard work, Bernice moved from the special agent ranks in 1977 to become a Regional Program Analyst in San Francisco, CA.  She came to the National Office Criminal Investigation following twelve years as a group manager in Phoenix, AZ.

Since her tour in Criminal Investigation Headquarters, she has had program responsibility in Money Laundering, Organized Crime and Currency Crimes.  Bernice is also the National Office Criminal Investigation Black Employment Special Emphasis Program Manager (SEPM) for Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO).  She served as treasury’s Liaison for IRS in the Asset Forfeiture Office during her final tenure with CI in Washington, DC.

A native of California, and the proud mother of a daughter (Lynda), Ms. Yost plans to use her skills and expertise working as a real estate agent and a private investigator after retirement.  She will also be spending more time with her two granddaughters (Lyniece and Ashley).
